Perfect for Lifting and Cross Training

"I love feeling my feet connected to the floor with these when I'm doing any lifting such as backsquat, deadlift, cleans, snatches, etc. For crossfit I also appreciate how grippy they are so I don't have to worry about slipping on the box jumps and it's so much easier to lunge with the wide flexible toe box! These are so great for my stability and mobility. Although they say 'men's' I'm a petite woman and think they're pretty cute 😏"

Pretty good

"I’m overall very satisfied with the TYR Barefoot DZ-1. The stability is excellent, and the grip on the floor is really impressive thanks to the high-quality rubber outsole. On the downside, they can feel quite uncomfortable when the straps are tightened, which puts noticeable pressure on the foot."

They will stain your socks

"I'm putting 5 stars because I suspect the folks at TYR delete negative reviews. I've tried submitting my review a few times, and it never showed up here. Also, I noticed that there were about seven 1 star reviews a few weeks ago, and they're gone now today as of May 2nd 2026 as I'm trying to submit this again. I got them in black. After they arrived, I tried them on to see how they fit for a few minutes. After taking them off, my white socks were stained dark blue around my toes. It doesn't come off with laundry detergent. I tried wiping the inside of the toe area with wet wipes and it takes a few wears and wipes before the dye run off lessens, but I am still noticing some minor staining of my socks even a few weeks after getting them. Other than that, the hard faux leather portion will bend in and press into your foot if you bend your toes. You'll notice when walking in them. Maybe they need to be broken in. They do their job as a flat footed shoe and work well for deadlifts. If you're going to get them maybe try lighter colors or white to avoid the staining issue. I asked customer support about it, and they said it's expected and doesn't count as a defect. /Shrug"

Effective but fit could be better

"I have never purchased a pair of barefoot shoes and am relatively new to strength training (last 6 months) and have progressed to the level where my trainer suggested I work barefoot for lifts. I wear these shoes with no socks because they are kind of snug and I ordered the size that I wear in about 98% of shoes I buy. The only caveat with these is that they feel a little tight on my left pinky toe (not my right), and releasing the velcro a little does help. I've only worn them about 2 weeks atp, so maybe they'll stretch a little more over the next few weeks and feel better. Otherwise, I do feel more grounded in my lifts and am liking this new addition to my fitness journey. For the price and functionality, I would definitely recommend these. If your feet are on the wider side, you may have to release the velcro a little but that's not a big deal."

Too narrow for me

"I really want to love these shoes. I have the black/gold pair and those are great. For some reason the white ones are so narrow. I wore them for a WOD and my feet hurt when I strap them all the way. So now when I wear them, I lightly strap them (just so the strap isn’t flapping around) but I really don’t want to. I can’t return them bc they’re worn so I’m super bummed to be stuck with them. I still wear them here and there but they’re tight for me. I’m wondering if there’s a difference btwn buying the women’s shoe or the men’s shoe. I bought the pair that was under the women’s category. On the bright side, the grip was awesome. I could see myself wearing these for inside the gym for volleyball."

Great barefoot trainer

"I have wanted these trainers for quite some time, when they released this color way I knew it was time to buy! They fit great, they are amazing in the gym and I find myself forgetting to take them off because they are so comfortable. I could wear these all day everyday! New favorite shoe ☺️ They are very breathable and light, the straps feel good, there is plenty of room in the toe box, I purchased a 7. 5 and they fit perfect, they are true to size."

Caroline A. (5/5)

Great performance

"Superb shoes for deadlifting. Let’s me get low while giving me unexpectedly strong support. Feet really grip the ground. I was very surprised as these shoes absolutely helped me to increase reps."

Daniel R. (5/5)

Nice toebox

"I wear a women’s 9. 5 in Altra and Xero and a 9 wide in Chacos. 9. 5 in this shoe is perfect. Easily adjustable and sticky soles. Great!"

Emily G. (5/5)

Perfect shoe!

"My personal trainer recommended these to me for weight lifting and what a difference they make! Great for stability, they really grip the floor in my stance. They’re comfortable, they fit true to size and I’m very happy I ordered them. Fast shipping, too!"

Margot M. (5/5)

Love them

"Great feel overall. Good heel support and a light overall feel that is as close to barefoot as you can get!"
