TYR Athletes Nominated for Triathlon America Awards

Three of TYR’s top female triathletes, Mirinda Carfrae, Julie Dibens, and Chrissie Wellington, have been nominated for Triathlon America’s Long Distance Female Triathlete of the Year. TYR would like to congratulate all three of these outstanding athletes for their nominations and their incredible accomplishments over the past year. Triathlon America, an industry organization dedicated to promoting the sport and business of triathlon, will hold its first annual Triathlon America Awards Celebration in conjunction with the Triathlon American Conference from February 27 – March 1, 2011 in La Jolla, California. The Active Network will present the awards, which will recognize and honor the best companies, programs, and athletes in the triathlon industry in 2010. 2010 season highlights from the female nominees include Mirinda Carfrae winning her first Ironman World Championship. Carfrae’s time of 8:58:36 was the 4th fastest time ever for the women in the history of the race. Julie Dibens finished 3rd overall at her first Ironman World Championships and had the fastest bike split of any female with her time of 4:55:27. Wellington is coming off a spectacular finish to her 2010 season, smashing the previous world record by nearly 11 minutes at Ironman Arizona.
